Why we do it
Founded in 2014, Hailstorm brings together vast advertising, media, production and voice-over experience to kick some butt in an advertising-medium that is proven to deliver results.
Hailstorm was founded because we understand that approaching big ad-agencies can be intimidating (not to mention horribly overpriced) for the business-owner who wants an effective, elegant, high-reach, no-nonsense solution to spreading their business’ message.
We absolutely love crafting great audio-based creative work that cuts straight through the clutter and makes people remember who our clients are.

Who we are
Our founding partners have worked side by side for more than a decade. Between them, they’ve won numerous advertising, media, publishing and marketing awards, built giant brands and literally sold millions of magazines.
It is radio advertising, however, that stands out from the rest of our vast experience in advertising, marketing, production and publishing, as the most effective means of spreading a business’ message to the masses, targeting a specific audience, getting bang for your buck and – from the perspective of the creative professional – the most fulfilling and joyful to create.
Head of Business and Co-founder
The former Editor of FHM Magazine, Louis’ vast experience in the production and publishing of a massive, international media brand – intrinsically interwoven with the advertising industry – sees him perfectly at home when getting things done in the worlds of advertising and radio.
Managing the production and placement of creative radio work in the most client-friendly, cost-effective way possible – whilst strategising innovative new ways for brands to make their mark and draw value across integrated media, both old and new – is our Louis’ bread and butter. He also handles Business and Community-engagement for Movember South Africa.
He supports Arsenal and likes to braai.
Head of Creative and Co-founder
An award-winning creative director, copywriter and feature writer, our Gord spent eight years as FHM’s Features and Entertainment Editor, before seamlessly shifting into the big ad-agency world. There, he worked on brands like DStv, Amstel Lager, Supersport, Johnnie Walker, Business Day, Marlboro and FHM, winning several awards as he went.
Through all the strategies, through-the-line campaigns and editorial content he’s steered, writing and producing great radio ads has always stood out – head and shoulders – as Gord’s greatest source of creative joy.
In his spare time, he voices ads for the likes of Subaru, KFC and Springbok Rugby.
Gord supports Manchester United and likes cats.
